Adam Taylor had a stellar performance at the British Chess Championship in August, gaining his first norm towards the International Master title and a massive 61 point jump in his FIDE rating. Bob Eames also participated in the British Championship and beat the highly rated FM Jonah Willow and GM Chris Ward in the first two rounds; he gained 23 FIDE rating points.

Paul McKeown has completed all the requirements for the FIDE Arbiter (FA) title, and hence his native federation, the Irish Chess Union, has applied to FIDE for the recognition of the title.

Aga Milewska has been been appointed a Councillor on the European Chess Union’s Women’s Commission.
