This tournament is open to teams of players aged Under 9 and Under 11 (at the start of the 2023 – 24 academic year) from all primary schools, whether in the state sector, church maintained, independent or international. Priority will be given to schools in the Borough of Richmond upon Thames, although entries from neighbouring boroughs will be welcome. Both age sections will be run as Team Swisses; All games will be played at the rate of 20 minutes per player, plus 10 seconds per move; all games will be ECF rated. The cost to enter a team in either section is £50. Team rooms will be provided, but teams may have to share their room with one from another school.

Prizes. A perpetual trophy will be presented to the team from the Borough of Richmond which achieves the best score in the competition, to keep for one year. The name of the winning team will be engraved on the perpetual trophy. Gold, silver and bronze medals will be presented to the members of the top three teams, regardless of whether they come from the Borough of Richmond, or not.
