Dear Parents,
I am delighted to announce that the Lunchtime Chess Club will continue in Summer Term 2025 at GEMS Twickenham Primary Academy. Paul McKeown will continue to run the club, and it will continue on Monday lunchtimes.
The good news is that the school entered an U9 team in the National Primary Schools Chess Championship. It performed well and qualified from its zonal competition to one of the national semi-finals. Dates for its further participation are yet to be set, but I will be in touch as soon as I know.
The chess club will run on Monday lunchtimes from 12:00 to 12:40 for Years 3 and 4 and from 13:00 to 13:40 for Years 5 and 6. The club will start on 28th April, and will run until 7th July, with a break on 5th May for the Bank Holiday and for half-term on 26th May. The club will therefore be held on 9 sessions in Summer Term 2025.
The cost of the club will be £81.00 for the term (i.e. £9.00 per session) and will accept a maximum of 14 children per session. All standards will be catered for.
